In Olympique Dramatique’s [meeuw], for the first time a repertoire work is translated and performed entirely in Flemish sign language by a mixed cast of d/Deaf and hearing actors.

The performance is based on Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull (1896), one of the greatest play texts in literary history, about a searching younger generation full of new ideas and an older generation that feels threatened. [meeuw] primarily wants to be an encounter with the Flemish d/Deaf community, a collaboration with artists of various backgrounds.

Is part of the selection:

“ I have been near your house so many times, but I have never entered. Let's sit down.”

-Nina Michailovna Zaretsjnaja
