The house lights go down. The camera starts. Action! Fingers dart about in a wonderful miniature decor, cameras float and dance along, a voice narrates. Film-maker Jaco Van Dormael and choreographer Michèle Anne De Mey make a film before your eyes. Like Kiss & Cry, their 2011 world hit, the long-awaited Cold Blood was a poetic trip full of flair and stunning visual discoveries. The press was ecstatic about this creation, which was the concluding work for Mons 2015, and then it went on a new world tour.
We are happy to present several performances of this KVS coproduction in Brussels, in French and, for the first time ever, also the Dutch version! Cold Blood is not a sequel to Kiss & Cry, but a compelling new adventure that lies somewhere between nano-dance and film. The author Thomas Gunzig will once again be responsible for the lyrics. You will recognise the influences of Ravel, Schubert, David Bowie and Janis Joplin. A journey through space and time, in the mind of a woman on the divide between life and death. A virtuoso ode to the fragility of life and the magic of theatre.
In the next few years Jaco Van Dormael will be supported as artist in residence by the KVS and Le manège Mons.
