Herman Teirlinck - 50 jaar later
‘Nothing comes before acting’.
Herman Teirlinck was born in Brussels and felt closely involved with the goings on at the KVS. In his now classic Dramatisch Peripatetikon he collected his views and opinions on theatre and acting. He firmly believed in theatre as a communal art and put the actor at its heart. It is thus no coincidence that, 50 years after the death of the godfather of Flemish theatre, and on the occasion of the republication of this classic work, that we at KVS are taking an in-depth look at his ideas.
What position does the actor occupy today? We ask François Beukelaers, who can tell breathtaking tales of working with Herman Teirlinck, Frank Vercruyssen (STAN), Lisaboa Houbrechts (Kuiperskaai) and a new generation of actors from the drama courses at the KASK (Ghent), Conservatoire (Antwerp) and RITCS (Brussels).
