OPEN CALL for participation: poetry workshop RISE UP with Sukina Douglas

For the second year in a row, KVS is organizing the interactive poetry project RISE UP with Sukina Douglas. Sukina Douglas is an internationally renown (slam) poet, performer and workshop facilitator from London with Jamaican roots. She has overwhelmed KVS several times as a member of the London hip-hop duo Poetic Pilgrimage and as a performer in Malcolm X

On 10 and 11 March from 2 to 7 pm, Sukina will be hosting a multilingual poetry writing workshop. Bringing together people of Brussels from all walks of life, Sukina wishes to let the city speak and to use the power of word for community (re)building and healing. Everyone is welcome to write in the language of their choice; we provide translations between English, French and Dutch. On 21 March at 6pm participants will be able to showcase the results of the workshop to the audience, during the Poetic Memorial at KVS in the intimate atmosphere of the Brazza bar.

15 participants is our maximum capacity!
Requirements:
- You live and/or work in Brussels
- You are between 16 and 116 years old
- You may or may not have former writing experience

To apply, fill out the form before February 22. We will get back to you before March 1st.
