What happens when someone survives?

The first chapter of the theatre trilogy Cadela Força by Brazilian writer and director Carolina Bianchi crosses various layers of time. Many of them filled with female corpses. Bianchi was so deeply shaken by the rape and murder of an artist who created a performance about her belief in human decency, that she started to weave a tapestry of stories around common narratives around rape and femicide. With her collective CARA DE CAVALO, she takes you on a journey – into the abyss, a hole in the middle of the desert, a deep- dive into a glass spiked with a date-rape drink – a descent straight into hell.

Carolina Bianchi is not a new name to KVS audiences. A first try-out of the first chapter of the Cadela Força trilogy at the 2021 Próximamente Festival earned her ample praise. After its world premiere at Festival d’Avignon in summer of 2023, we are proud to present this searing piece of theatre at KVS.

KVS wants to offer everyone a stimulating and safe environment. This creation features themes including rape and femicide. Everything you see happens with full consent from Carolina Bianchi, who trusts her crew completely. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, please do not hesitate to leave the theatre if you wish.

The text of this spectacle was also built from many conversations with writings of many authors. We highlight the collaboration of the actress Blackyva in her text in the second part of the show, an excerpt by Renan Marcondes and his text Foto fantasma e os presentes da performance, Nathalie Léger and her book The White Dress, the bibliography of Roberto Bolaño, writings of Saidiya Hartman and the work of the anthropologist Rita Laura Segato.
