In 2007 in Calais, a whole family hanged themselves: the parents and their two children. Never a motive was found, the goodbye-letter stated: ‘We went too far, sorry’. What reasons, what injuries underlie such a suicide? The family drama will be staged by a real family: actors An Miller and Filip Peeters will not only act together as a couple, but for the first time in their career they will be on stage with their two teenage daughters Leonce and Louisa (13 and 14 years old). Together they will reconstruct the last moments of this mysterious case, following the journey of their own family, questioning the construction of family from the first date to its darkest abysses.
Milo Rau has been artistic director of NTGent since the 2018/19 season. In his productions, he often mixes real life with professional actors, reality with fiction. For his opening production Lam Gods he brought over 50 citizens of Ghent on stage to re-enact the Ghent Altarpiece. Rau has produced more than 50 plays, films, events and written books. His productions have been shown at all major international festivals and in more than 30 countries. For his work he received various prizes, e.g. in 2018 the European Theatre Prize.
