Mrs Dalloway is the account of one day in the life of Clarissa Dalloway, in England just after World War I. Barely anything seems to happen: Mrs Dalloway buys flowers and prepares for a party. In the meantime, her thoughts flow freely ... Condensing a whole life into one day, that was Virginia Woolf ’s ambition for her 1925 novel. It would become a landmark in world literature: proof of her stylistic mastery and a deep understanding for the human psyche.

In and between the words of the book, an enormous intensity propels image after image. Carme Portaceli (Teatro Español) and Michael De Cock (KVS) set to work with that literary freedom. A bold collaboration with a stellar cast, including actress Blanca Portillo, who impressed in one of the lead roles of Almodóvar’s Volver. Michael De Cock, artistic director of KVS, adapted the text in an intense collaboration with director Carme Portaceli and dramaturge Anna-Maria Ricart.
