Leonard Nolens is one of the most important living poets in the Dutch language. His career spans over five decennia, filled to the brim with awards. Guy Cassiers curated a selection from the poetry collections Bres (2007) and Zeg de kinderen dat wij niet deugen (2011).

Each one of Nolens’ poetry collections is an inventory of himself – a sort of mental health report or performance review. But in these collections, Nolens also measures the fever of his and our time. It’s a sharp reckoning with his generation, a sober and yet passionate confession of guilt. With Johan Leysen on stage and Nolens on video.
