Laryssa Kim

Singer & composer

Laryssa Kim is an Italo-Congolese singer and composer.

She set up in Amsterdam in 2008 where she discovered new artistic domains such as physical theatre and contemporary dance. This stimulating environment allowed her to explore new ways of communicating through music and voice and become familiar with new digital tools such as looping machines and special effects. Based in Brussels since 2013, she devotes her time to the mastery of electroacoustic music and, after 5 years of study, has obtained a baccalaureate and Masters in acousmatic music composition (from the Conservatoire Royale de Mons [Royal Music Conservatory of Mons]). In 2015 she started working on a solo project, under her own name, and in 2020 she created a group of artists comprising musicians and a dancer. Laryssa is also part of the Séneçon collective (electroacoustic and acousmatic music), FeBeME (Fédération belge de musique électroacoustique [Belgian Federation for Electroacoustic Music]) and the EMO (Electronic Music Orchestra).

In addition, Laryssa is currently and actively working as a composer for theatre and dance: she will perform in Pitcho Womba Konga’s Fire will become ashes, but not now. She is also composing the music for Roland Gunst’s Spirit Capital (coproduced by the Moussem Nomadic Arts Centre with Vooruit, Kaaitheater, Desingel and De Theatremaker), for The one (et demi) man show by Salim Haouach produced by Ras al Hanout and KVS, and for Pelvic Bath by Helena Dietrich (in residence at Antwerp’s WP Zimmer and at Les Brigittines in Brussels). She also worked on In naam van waarheid produced by the Theatre Malpertuis and Victoria Deluxe.
