Louis Junior Akwety hails from Kinshasa and is a rapper, singer-songwriter and producer. At the start of his music career he was part of the hip hop group L.O. Squad. He started his own record label Kifanisu in 2005 and produced, amongst others, the debut album of Rasta-rapper Gandhi, with whom he still regularly shares the stage. In late 2017 Akwety toured the US with DJ Lost Desert and Lee Burridge. Since 2014 Akwety has been active in the theatre scene. He performed in the musical comedy Rumble in da Jungle, about Muhammad Ali, and collaborated with director Junior Mthombeni again for KVS productions Malcolm X and Drarrie in de nacht.
