Dear Winnie documentary

In this short documentary, young filmmakers Jaan Stevens and Aisha Adepoju aim their camera at three actresses from Dear Winnie. Alesandra Seutin, Tutu Puoane and Andie Dushime reflect on the past and present importance of Winnie Madikizela Mandela and on what it meant for her to be Black, a woman and a freedom fighter under the South African apartheid regime.

They also tell their own stories: how do they experience being a Black woman in society today? They are a new generation who draw power from the battles of their predecessors, with Winnie Madikizela Mandela as a major source of inspiration. The actresses end on a hopeful note: they look to the future, to a world blessed with true equality.
