Five KVS faces at TheaterFestival
A whopping four performances by KVS faces made it into the TheaterFestival selection this year, and our very own Moya Michael will be opening the festival with State of the Union! Junior Mthombeni will be revisiting his unrivalled Vaderlandloos, while Seppe Baeyens and his co-creators Martha Balthazar and Yassin Mrabtifi are set to receive an award for their dynamic creation Birds. Lisette Ma Neza will be showcasing Some Girls Want to Go to Europe and Valentijn Dhaenens performs his clever version of Het Gezin Van Paemel (a production by Skagen).
KVS couldn’t be prouder: a whopping four performances by KVS faces have made the cut of the TheaterFestival 2022 in Ghent, and our very own Moya Michael will be opening the festival with State of the Union!
Junior Mthombeni was selected with his highly personal creation Vaderlandloos, a trip through his own turbulent history, while Seppe Baeyens swarms out in the streets of Ghent with Birds, a co-creation with Martha Balthazar and Yassin Mrabtifi. Lisette Ma Neza also makes an appearance with Some Girls Want to Go to Europe (previously performed at KVS under the title L'Europe noire ). And Valentijn Dhaenens repeats his tour de force Het Gezin Van Paemel (a Skagen production), in which he plays no less than thirteen different roles and interacts with digital counterparts.
Another familiar face at the festival is Luanda Casella with her clever creation Killjoy Quiz (an NTGent production). Can’t make it to Ghent? No worries, you can catch the play on 22 and 23 September at KVS as part of the FAME festival.
Seeing so many of ‘our’ faces in the TheaterFestival selection warms our hearts. We can’t wait for September. See you in Ghent?
