Eremedaille voor KVS

What an honour! On 15 July, we were presented with a medal of honour in the Order of Isabella la Catolica by the Spanish embassy. This award recognises persons and organisations who actively foster close relations between Belgium and Spain in culture, science or academia. City dramaturge Gerardo Salinas went to pick up the medal in person.

This award was presented in recognition of the relations we have built with partners in Spain in recent years. We have various kinds of collaborations with partners including the Theatre Nacional de Catalunya, the Valencia Dansa Festival, the platform Between Lands, the Instituto Cervantes, Los Teatros del Canal, the Cadiz International Theater Festival, the GREC Festival, the Embassy of Spain in Belgium, etc.

With this prize, Spain offers recognition of the highest level to persons and institutions that represent close ties with Belgium and who are an example of excellence in their respective fields, from scientific and medical research to the visual arts, as well as studies and essays about literature and film. 
Besides KVS, the Spanish artist Ángel Vergara; general director of the Belgian Museums of Fine Art, Michel Draguet; researcher Cédric Blanpain and his Laboratory of Stem Cells and Cancer at Université Libre de Bruxelles; and the Hispanic scholars Rita de Maeseneer and Robin Lefere were decorated by Beatriz Larrotcha, Ambassador of Spain, at the Official Ambassador’s Residence Marquis de Villalobar.
