For this daring cross-pollination, KVS is collaborating with Urban Woorden. This sociocultural organisation from Leuven has built up a decennium of expertise around slam workshops, expertly guided by young word artists of diverse backgrounds. In the last few months, senior citizens were introduced to the magical world of slam in countless workshops, getting them ready for their moment of truth: a showcase in our theatre. Simon Donceel filmed a documentary around the creative process.
Young and old take to the stage together and will be joined by special guest American poet and musician Sharrif Simmons. He caught the poetry bug twenty years ago in the bookshop where his aunt worked. Now he travels the world with his poems. When he’s not on stage, he teaches, guides workshops and organises events.
