Infamous Offspring

Primal stories of parents and children. Of power, seduction, aggression, humiliation, exclusion, manipulation, beauty, cunning, ... Histories that travelled through time in lore create a recognisable hierarchy of contemporary parents versus children.

None other than musician, writer and composer Warren Ellis takes on the role of the father. He creates music for the performance and interacts with his nine ‘offspring’ on stage through video projections. Israel Galvan, a flamenco expert, is the parents’ best friend and communicates only through his rhythmic physical expression.

Fiona Benson, writer of furious, fierce, ecstatic poems, with an unfaltering determination, dark imagination and self-inspection, reworks old myths to the contemporay realm, mixing solemnity with lyricism, for the interaction between film and stage and as an inspiration to the dancers and the musicians.
