Mats Vandroogenbroeck

Mats Vandroogenbroeck (°1993, he/him) is an actor, theatre maker and writer, with a background in history at Ghent University and drama at KASK.

As a performer and creator, he has collaborated with, among others, de Kopergietery, studio ORKA, Blauwhuis, Malpertuis, Compagnie De Koe and the artists’ collective ZUIDPARK. Together with Jonas Baeke, he created the children’s performance Bambiraptor, which was selected for the Theaterfestival in 2022. Alongside his work as an actor, Mats is developing an artistic and critical writing practice. He is an editorial member of the cultural and critical magazine rekto:verso and writes the texts for Krapp. His fascination with the occult runs as a guiding thread through his theatre work. This is also evident in Krapp creations such as Weird Tales and De Duivels/Les diables, a KVS production premiered in 2023.

In 2024, Vandroogenbroeck, together with Jana De Kockere, Barbara T’Jonck and Martha Balthazar, created the performance Rustoord, a piece of documentary theatre about contemporary elderly care in Belgium.
