Fight For Your Right To Party
PITCHO WOMBA KONGA & MIKE VAN ALFEN / CENTRAL LA LOUVIERE
The idea for Fight for Your Right to Party came about during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Young people rebelled against the injunction to stay home and gathered for, amongst others, the Black Lives Matter manifestations and La Boum in Cambre Woods. This creation honours the attitude of this generation, that clung to dance and artistic disciplines, both to protest the mandatory social distancing and to simply continue to exist. Celebration became an instrument of resistance in their capable hands.
