Mbok’Elengi! is a well-known phrase on the streets of Kinshasa. Consisting of the Lingala words mboka (land, place) and elengi (pleasure, extasy), it characterises a country full of lust for life. This wonderful universe is exactly what Congolese choreographer and dancer Jolie Ngemi wants to draw attention to and share with the world in her new creation. In spite of all of the trials, injustices and conflicts, Mbok’Elengi aims to be a source of hope and inspiration.
