“How do six diverse people, with or without disabilities, white or people of colour, cis or queer, shape their relationships with one another? The result is funny, tender and playful. Set to music by Steven Prengels, the energetic cast celebrates the joy of encounter with verve.” – Pzazz

O amor natural moves beyond the binary codes of yes and no and explores consent in all its non-verbal facets: whispers, body temperature, breathing, gaze and the speed of movement weave together a web of intimacy. The concept of consent raises many questions about care practices, but also about sexual and artistic practices. How do we know what we want and do not want, and how do we communicate this? On what basis can we consent to a practice that is still unfamiliar to us?

For people with disabilities, touch is often associated with a medical procedure, as if their bodies were objects to be manipulated and moved without attention to their physical and emotional needs, within a relationship that by definition excludes any form of sensuality. O amor natural is about reclaiming the possibility of experiencing and expressing the complexity of touch. Six performers take centre stage: Hamza Damra, Tijen Lawton, Isnelle Da Silveira, Wim Auwerx, Vladimir Perrin and Maarten Degezelle. The cast brings together different worlds in terms of age, visible and invisible disabilities, ethnicity, libertarian or conservative views, and experience with dance and inclusive practices.

Steven Prengels, composer of Gardenia, En avant, marche!, Nicht Schlafen, Mein Gent and Ombra by Alain Platel, created the soundscape for O amor natural.
