In Version(s), award-winning choreographer Dorothée Munyaneza (Umuko, Mailles, …) brings together two men: Christian Nka, former boxer and local legend in the northern suburbs of Marseille; and Ben LaMar Gay, composer and musician from Chicago and Dorothée’s trusty companion. To Ben’s soundscape, a portrait of Christian unfolds. For the first time, Munyaneza explicitly questions manhood – a polymorphous identity in turmoil – and what parts of it we inherit and pass on.
