Juist is Juist: also at KVS
KVS fully applies the principles and agreements of Juist is Juist.
JUIST IS JUIST?
Juist is Juist is an organisation that defines clear and fair principles and practices for collaborations in the arts sector. For all disciplines. And for all parties involved. Arts organisations and arts workers should be able to work fairly: through adequate funding, fair payment, good working conditions and transparent collaborations. Juist is Juist helps turn good intentions into concrete practice through practical advice and targeted tools, which KVS gratefully makes use of.
HOW DOES KVS PUT THESE PRINCIPLES INTO PRACTICE?
Before the start of a new production, KVS holds a conversation about the terms of remuneration, expenses and the expected (and therefore paid) time commitment. We always start from the estimated period during which the work will be carried out and then propose remuneration in line with the salary scales for the performing arts sector.
We also inform the artist about the different ways they can be paid (through an employment contract, based on an invoice as a self-employed person, through a non-profit organisation, or via a social bureau for artists (SBK), a traditional temporary employment agency, or other options). As long as these agreements are made in good time and finalised before the assignment begins, we can establish a mutually fair artistic collaboration.
