Caroline Pauwels Bursary for Wonder

The Caroline Pauwels Bursary for Wonder is a development bursary for a project or creation by artist(s) and scientist(s) who connect science and the performing arts (theatre, dance, opera, music, circus, …) to a relevant societal topic.

They use the bursary to work on a project that can be presented to a wide audience in an accessible manner. The bursary is a collaboration between VUB, KVS, Theater Aan Zee, and deAuteurs.

Caroline Pauwels was the curator of TAZ#2021 and wrote the short book ‘Ode to Wonder’. The woman who taught us what wonder is through her infectious energy passed away on 5 August 2022. With the Caroline Pauwels Bursary for Wonder, we want to keep Caroline’s memory, but also her way of thinking, alive with a yearly project.
