Wrapped in Rhythm, a new album by Tutu Puoane

At the start of the season, we saw Tutu Puoane on stage at KVS during Het Theaterfestival with Alesandra Seutin’s Mimi’s Shebeen. Now, she has released her new album: Wrapped in Rhythm. Next season, Tutu will go on tour with Dear Winnie (Jr.cE.sA.r) in Gothenburg (February 2025). 

Wrapped in Rhythm is based on the poetry collection In A Ribbon of Rhythm by her South African compatriot Lebogang Mashile. With her partner in life and musician, pianist Ewout Pierreux, Tutu composed a host of new songs based on some of her favourites from Mashile's collection. The result is a glowing repertoire at her own African crossroads of singer-songwriting, jazz and soul. 

The album was produced by legendary American musician/bassist/producer Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman, Thomas Dybdahl, Herbie Hancock,... ). 

In April, May and June, Tutu will go on tour with her record in Belgium, the Netherlands, France and the UK. More info on her website.
