From Bristol to Sevilla, from Haiti to Marseille: the Rwandan-British artist Dorothée Munyaneza interweaves the intimate journeys of six female, Black and African(-descended) artists through choral pieces and visual elements.

With costume as the common thread throughout the piece, these six women embody a collective power that makes their encounter possible. They sing, dance and scream out the memories of entangled stories, “free, unafraid and as the bearer of the stories of oppressed peoples”. This emancipation unites them, veering between rage and gentleness, in a world in which they will never let themselves be oppressed.
