EXTREMADURA
CRAC – ESPACIO ÚNICO is an artistic hub set in nature, in the La Vera region, north of Cáceres. The organisation spans one and a half hectares with its own organic vegetable garden, located in an area with a rich agricultural and livestock tradition, where the seasons set the rhythm of daily life. From this environment, CRAC proposes a cultural vision that transcends the everyday and the urban, by encouraging encounters that enrich both local and collective imagination. With calm and dedication, from a place “where one would least expect it”, the organisation fosters a rooted artistic practice, sensitive to its context and open to the unexpected.
The venue features a 150 m² main hall and a 55 m² wooden stage with a free height of 8 metres, as well as workspaces, rest areas and accommodation for artists. The centre is fully equipped with technical facilities (sound and lighting) to support stage productions and offers residencies ranging from one week to one month.
CRAC opens its doors to artists, musicians and companies active in the performing arts, dance, circus, theatre, performance and audiovisual art. Its aim is to provide a unique space for creation, rehearsal, reflection and the maturation of projects, integrating contemporary art into a rural environment. For larger companies, CRAC makes nearby rural houses available, thus encouraging long-term, contextual work processes. CRAC is a space by artists for artists – an invitation to create in dialogue with the landscape, a slower rhythm and shared living.
Juan Carlos Panduro
Born in Badajoz, Juan Carlos Panduro trained at the École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque in Brussels. His artistic practice moves between circus and poetry – two languages he explores through hybridity, fragility and strangeness.
In 2024, he published his first book Romer recién cortao (Letraversal) and is currently working on his first stage production. He explores the boundaries and failures of the body, moving away from the usual virtuosic circus to search for a unique physicality – one grounded more in strangeness than spectacle, inhabiting the stage without dominating it.
He is fascinated by palindromes, repetitions and word trios – “because they sing” – and often recalls how, as a child, he was asked to write a poem for the Virgin, and that he has been trying ever since. As he says: “What is written endures everything.”
Ángeles Vázquez (Cía Albadaluke)
Cía Albadulake was born from the encounter of two artists: Antonio Moreno (Cáceres), a juggler trained at the Montréal Circus School and current director of the company, and Ángeles Vázquez, a flamenco dancer from Córdoba, trained at the Centro Amor de Dios in Madrid, who is also the company’s director.
Their collaboration took shape in 2000. Albadulake emerged from the founders’ need to develop an open and dynamic stage language, without text, where movement, music, and play are central. Their productions follow a clear artistic line: multidisciplinary spectacles with a distinct signature, always driven by innovation and pure creativity.
The five productions created by Albadulake are accessible to all audiences. The company has been part of the regular programming of both national and international theatres, toured in more than 30 countries, and performed at major festivals. They have appeared in schools, at private events, and collaborated with established companies for their corporate events.
Some notable examples include: Festival Complètement Cirque (Montréal), Sziget Festival (Hungary), Festival Internacional de Danza (Granada), Festival Mont de Marsan, Flamenco Festival of Nîmes, Festival el Lazarillo, Los Veranos de la Villa (Madrid), Festival Etnosur, Expo Shanghai 2010 (Spanish Pavilion), a Middle East tour with the Instituto Cervantes, and Circuito Abecedaria.
In addition, the group has collaborated with companies and institutions such as Santiago Bernabéu (Noches mágicas del Bernabéu), BMW, La Caixa, Banco Santander, and SGAE.
BASQUE COUNTRY
Azala
Azala is a meeting place for artists, activists and researchers, mainly linked to body, voice and movement. It is an ideal location for artistic residencies, with two studios and five cottages, set among wheat fields and holm oaks in the village of Lasierra.
Since its founding in 2008, Azala has developed numerous collaborations within its ecosystem and seeks to strengthen its ties with contextual practices. In 2017, Azala was awarded the Premio Gure Artea by the Basque Government. Activities include residencies, laboratories, seminars, public programmes, celebrations, walks and artistic mentoring. Since 2019, Azala has also been publishing Borradores del futuro, a series of short stories envisioning possible futures and utopias, based on contemporary experiences.
Iara Solano
Iara Solano Arana is an artist and researcher. Since 2006, she has been creating stage experiences and relational installations that transcend disciplines and place the audience at the centre. She explores the boundaries between theatre, film, dance and installation, with a focus on perception, liminality and the body.
Alongside her own artistic practice, she supports the projects of other artists and combines her work with audience engagement, education and cultural management. Her work has been presented on four continents, including at the Barbican (London), the Sydney Festival and the Festival d’Avignon, and she has won several international awards.
Since 2022, she has been working on Objeto Permanencia, an interdisciplinary theoretical-practical research project on culture and perception. This project delves into an anthropology of the senses and concepts of experiential dance for blind and visually impaired audiences, through works such as the series Hacia una Danza Invisible and the performative lecture Actos Reflejos (in development).
Maider Lasa
Maider Lasa Santamaría is an actress, singer, composer and performer. This young artist from Vitoria develops her work through a multidisciplinary approach that brings together theatre, lyrical singing and contemporary stage creation. With experience as a choir conductor, she leads her own company, developing projects that explore the intersections between tradition and experimentation, body and voice, collective and intimate.
Her artistic practice is marked by poetic sensitivity and a deep focus on processes of cultural transmission and generational memory. One of her most recent works, Loa Loa laguna, is an immersion into dreamlike and nocturnal landscapes. It is a piece that reflects on the old – visiting us through tradition – and the new – emerging in the present.
