KVS

A spring full of dance

KVS is putting a spring in its step with a programme full of dance! We launched a new European dance prize in collaboration with seven European theatres, the Salavisa European Award. And 2024 starts with a unique and extensive dance programme, including (Belgian) premieres by Moya Michael, Les Mybalés, Peeping Tom, and Serge Aimé Coulibaly.

KVS 💜 Dance

Dance lovers will have plenty of choice at KVS this spring, thanks to a hugely diverse programme. From Peeping Tom’s signature dance theatre, via unique performances with dreamy soundscapes like Le vide (Les Mybalés) and In Love (Bahar Temiz), to Moya Michael’s work, which combines all kinds of expressions, identities and media.

New European Dance Award

KVS is a proud partner in the brand-new Salavisa European Dance Award. This recently launched biennial dance prize is a joint initiative by eight European theatres that will be awarded to a choreographer or creator to create new work or to give their existing work international presentation opportunities.

Other partners in the Salavisa prize are Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Lisbon), ImPulsTanz (Vienna), Dansehallerne (Copenhagen), Maison de la Danse/Biennale de la Danse (Lyon), Joint Adventures (Munich), Julidans/ITA (Amsterdam) and Sadler’s Wells (London).

Who is Jorge Salavisa?

The Salavisa European Dance Award was named after Portuguese dancer and choreographer Jorge Salavisa (1939-2020). His work combined classical ballet and repertoire with modern and contemporary dance. For Salavisa, dance was first and foremost an attitude, an energy, a way of seeing the world. He put great stock in diversity in the dance world and supported artists who were looking for their own identities and convictions.

In short: dance in droves at KVS this spring. Pick your favourites and book your tickets now!
