Rashif El Kaoui

Rashif El Kaoui is an actor, rapper, podcaster, writer and one of our KVS faces.

Rashif El Kaoui earned his MA in Word Art from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, and has been very active since: he works as an actor, rapper, podcaster and writer. In 2016 his prose was awarded the El Hizjra Literature Prize, the prime literary prize for prose and poetry by colourful talent in the Netherlands and Flanders. Das Mag also noticed his work and published it in Das Magazin and in the Sampler 2018, a collection of work by promising young authors.

Together with actor Lucas De Man and photographer Ahmet Polat, Rashif El Kaoui is working on the project De Man is Lam, about manhood today. An eponymous podcast can be heard monthly during Nooit meer slapen, a culture programme on VPRO.

You might have seen Rashif at work in performances by ‘t Arsenaal, Het Paleis, fABULEUS, de Monty and KVS. At KVS he is a familiar face and part of the renewed open ensemble after his roles in Malcolm X, Odysseus: een zwerver komt thuis, Drarrie in de Nacht and JR (FCBergman/Toneelhuis/NTGent/KVS). In 2019 you can spot Rashif El Kaoui in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, directed by Mesut Arslan.

Rashif teaches eloquence at the Mortsel Academy and provides courses in Pitching and Presentation Techniques for the business courses at Fortio/Syntra.
